The challenge was keeping the aerodynamics of the Exploro while accommodating large tires. To solve this, 3T aerodynamically engineered the frame around the tires. This determined how to shape the frame to redirect airflow despite a lack of aero tires. The reality is, 55-61mm tires will always create a mess of airflow, especially with knobs. 3T started here and figured out how to design a frame that would catch and redirect the air. They did this by using a 60mm wide downtube behind the front wheel that gets wider closer to the bottom bracket. It also features an off-center aero profile. This makes the Exploro Ultra much faster than you would ever expect a bike with such large tires to be.
The frame of the 3T Exploro Ultra is made with a high-quality carbon that is both lightweight and incredibly stiff. This makes it tough and rigid enough to deal with some of the most daunting terrain off the road. It features a very stiff bottom bracket that helps it remain tough and efficient on a trail. Hidden fender mounts are there if you need them and a wide downtube base completely shields your water bottle. As you would expect, disc brakes and a 1x setup are optimized on this bike.
